Grow It.

  • 1. Preparing for Planting

Before starting any planting, we prepare the planting beds. This typically includes removing weeds and unwanted plants, amending the soil with nutrient-dense compost, and loosening compacted soil with no-till methods.

We’ll also personally select any large tree and shrub specimens from our esteemed local growers. This way, only the most beautifully formed, well-branched plants make it into the garden.

  • 2. Planting Large Trees & Shrubs

Once an area is prepped, we start by planting large trees (called "caliper") and shrubs. Depending on the size of the material, we may use equipment to place them before planting.

We plant trees and shrubs with a specialty technique that makes certain everything is planted straight and remains straight, without staking. Our trees and shrubs don't settle or tip over time, nor do they experience common issues like root compaction or girdling.

  • 3. Planting Perennials

Before planting, we lay out all of the potted perennials according to the plan, then make final adjustments. In doing this, we can be sure that plants are spaced correctly. This prevents overcrowding and disease spread in the long term.

We finish by cleaning up the site, watering all the newly installed plants, and hauling away containers.

  • 4. Providing Ongoing Maintenance

We always recommend continued maintenance to protect your investment. We create custom maintenance plans with each client according to their needs and budget.

Maintenance includes weeding, watering, trimming, deadheading, treating fungus, disease, and pests, propagating plants, and more. We're also happy to give care tips to our clients and teach them how to maintain the garden themselves, if that suits them best.
