WARBLER’S LANDING
Williamsburg, Massachusetts
As a nature photographer and keen birdwatcher, our client asked us to assist in designing and installing a 15 acre landscape planted almost exclusively with native perennials. Planting choices were kept informal to suit the pastoral qualities of the surrounding landscape, as well as to complement the many stone outcroppings present.
Dozens of large trees and shrubs were added throughout the property, including Nyssa, Viburnum, and Amelanchier, for pops of color in both spring and autumn. Other woody perennials boast striking berries and red stems for winter interest (and food for wildlife). Several Goshen stone patios were strategically placed for optimal birdwatching near custom granite birdbaths and feeding stations. The 2 acre native wildflower meadow, complete with a pond, attracts its own share of wildlife, including deer and even the occasional bear.
Last, woodland plants were installed throughout a trail system in the nearby forest. Various ferns, groundcovers, and unusual orchids line the paths and help soak up excess water to allow a pleasant hiking experience. The resulting landscape is a place that our clients and her company, animal and human alike, can enjoy all year long.
